Last week on Thursday, April 16, 2020, the Scorpion team and BKSDA conducted a monitoring activity in Arsejae Lombang Village, Arse District, South Tapanuli Regency. In the midst of a COVID-19 pandemic, the BKSDA Joint Scorpion Team also implemented the use of masks for activities. Monitoring activities are carried out to monitor Illegal Logging and animal hunting activities, this village is a village directly adjacent to a protected forest area. According to reports from local residents, conflicts often occur between animals and humans, this is because the animals harm the yields of the gardens owned by residents. When the Durian season arrives, animals such as orangutans often enter the community garden area and take fruit for food. In this village, snares and hunting for deer often occur. Installing snares can have a devastating effect on wildlife, and even tigers can be hurt if they fall into snares. This has led to conflicts between humans and wildlife. This monitoring activity was carried out to monitor whether orangutans were still coming down and disturbing community gardens.
