The law against illegal wildlife trade has not been enforced accordingly. Dean of Forestry Faculty at Bogor Agriculture Institute (IPB Bogor), Dr. Rinkso Soekmadi, MSc identified the illegal wildlife trade in Indonesia as corruption. It exists but very difficult to stop.

Intensified law enforcement against wildlife crime in North Sumatra currently has not been supported by adequate facility. Scorpion Foundation investigator visited the rescue centre of BBKSDA in Medan on Thursday (10th of March 2016) and found that the facility in the centre was not adequate. Animals were placed in small or old cages which need repair or replacement.
