Forest rangers from the Wildlife Authority (BBKSDA – SU) together with Scorpion Foundation field staff carried out a joint patrol in Dolok Sipirok Nature Reserve, East Block of Batangtoru Ecosystem (2022/02/24).

The Scorpion and BBKSDA-SU routinely carry out joint patrols to prevent the capture of Tapanuli orangutans or damage to their habitat.

This time, the patrol was carried out in Lancat Jae Village, Arse subdistrict, South Tapanuli Regency. The village is directly adjacent to the Dolok Sipirok which is a habitat for the Tapanuli orangutans in Batangtoru East Block.

In this patrol, the team did not find any damage or illegal hunting of orangutan, however, regular patrols have created cautious among the illegal hunters of orangutans and illegal encroachers.
