THE “WORST” ZOO IN THE WORLD LOCATES IN BENGKULU

Investigators from the Indonesian Friends of the Animals NGO group were shocked to find animals in Bengkulu Zoo, Sumatra, Indonesia kept with no food or water and held in cages full of rubbish. The condition of this zoo is very regretful and probably the worst zoo in the world..

A crocodile was seen struggling to keep cool in a patch of polluted water only an inch deep. Primates were found with no food or water. Cages were held together by string. The smell of decay was everywhere.

Senior investigator Marison Guciano said, “Bengkulu Zoo must be closed down before the remaining animals die. We are sure many have already died through neglect.”

Located in Bengkulu City, Bengkulu Province of Sumatra, Bengkulu Zoo and its animals have abandoned by the owners and by BKSDA.

Guciano continued, “Indonesian Friends of the Animals appeal to BKSDA to help these suffering animals before they die of neglect and starvation.”

The Indonesian News Agency ANTARA published report on April 29 2015 highlighting the condition of this zoo. Drs Lamhir Syam Sinaga Msi of Bengkulu University quoted by ANTARA as saying, the condition of Bengkulu Zoo is regretful not well managed.

"There are only few animals at the zoo, skinny animals, and the infrastructures are damaged,” he said.
