The Simpang Tiga Redelong District Court, Aceh Province, sentenced the former head of Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh Province, Ahmadi Bin Muhammad Ali, to 18 months in prison plus a fine of IDR100,000,000 (Approximately USD 6,700) in the Simpang Tiga Redelong District Court hearing on Thursday, April 13, 2023.

Ahmadi Bin Muhammad Ali was found guilty of deliberately trading Sumatran tiger skins and bones.

The evidence in this case included 1 (one) Sumatran Tiger Skin and its bones seized for the State and handed over to the Aceh Province Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) for destruction.

In a press release of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) on the 14th of April 2023 the MoEF revealed that in the last 2 years the Law Enforcement Agency of the MoEF, has captured 7 persons for involvements in tiger skin trade in Aceh province. Five of them have been sentenced. (Haba/KLHK)
