Joint Patrol in Bulumario Area of Dolok Sibual-buali Nature Reserve (October 1-3, 2024)

The Scorpion Indonesian Foundation together with the wildlife authority (BBKSDASU) field staff carried out joint patrols for three consecutive days in Dolok Sibual-buali Nature Reserve      (1 to 3 October 2024).


In Day 1, the patrol team visited the Nature Reserve in Bulumario village, Sipirok subdistrict of South Tapanuli regency. During the patrol, the team encountered a number of timbers which were allegedly stolen from the Nature Reserve area. However, further investigation was  still needed (by BBKSDASU) for the timber case.


In Day 2, the team continued to monitor an area outside the boundary of the nature reserve. The team discovered a new orangutan nest which was categorized as A Class.

In Day 3, the team got an information about orangutans disturbing gardens of local community. When the team visited the location, they encountered an orangutan mother carrying a baby. In this location, the team also found another orangutan nest which was categorized as B Class.
