Close down all illegal wildlife sales in Indonesia. The wildlife belongs in the wild. Indonesian Law No. 5/1990 says: Every person who kill, capture, keep protected species (alive or dead) can be sentenced to five years in jail and fine of IDR100 million (US$7,400.00).

Atjehlink: Forestry and Police Officers Confiscate 4 Protected Species (July 4, 2015)

One of the Environment and Forestry Ministry’s agency, the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) together with Aceh police officers confiscated five protected animals from a number of houses in Banda Aceh. These animals scheduled to be released to the wild habitat in protected forest areas.The five animals consist of siamang (1), sun bears (2), and gibbon (2). Animals seized were subsequently taken to the BKSDA Aceh to be placed temporarily in cages before reintroduction into forests.

Starving orangutans saved from certain death by team of rescuers who transported them from isolated woodland to lush forest (July 6, 2015)

This is the heartwarming moment a family of starving orangutans were rescued from an isolated patch of woodland and released back into their natural habitat.The primates became stranded in West Borneo, Indonesia, after agricultural plantations and illegal gold mines invaded their forest home and left them without food.

Shocking photographs show dolphins kept in horrific conditions in a small resort swimming pool in Bali. The four dolphins are kept in a chlorinated pool measuring 10m by 20m at a hotel at Keramas Beach on the Indonesian holiday island. The Wake Bali Dolphins tourist attraction charges visitors money for an 'exciting' dolphin experience, allowing people with swim with, hug and kiss the dolphins.

Jakarta, GATRAnews – SCORPION Wildlife Trade Monitoring Group mentions Jakarta, Surabaya and Medan as the most widespread occurrence of wildlife trade. In Jakarta, the wildlife is traded on Jatinegara and Pramuka wildlife markets. In addition, the wildlife trade is also rife in Jalan Barito Wildlife Market. While in Surabaya, wildlife traded in Bratang and Turi wildlife markets. In Medan, the wildlife is sold on roadside in Jalan Metrologi Ujung.

SCORPION Urges Government to Ban Animal Trading (July 1, 2015)

Jakarta (Antara Bali): The non-governmental organisation working on wildlife conservation, SCORPION, urges the government to prohibit protected wildlife trading."We ask the government to shut down illegal wildlife trades," Senior investigator of SCORPION Marison Guciano said in a statement received by Antara here Tuesday.

SCORPION'S PRESS RELEASE: DON’T KILL OUR WILD BIRDS (JULY 2, 2015)

"Stop Killing and Eating Our Wildlife" is the message activists from Indonesia’s newest wildlife NGO, SCORPION Wildlife Trade Monitoring Group, want people to hear loud and clear. Last week activists from SCORPION visited Jalan Metrologi Ujung Medan and took photographs of wild birds on sale at the roadside. They were shocked at the number of wild birds being sold and it is obvious they cannot be repopulated this fast in their natural habitat. A week later SCORPION returned to the same place and found a different man selling wild birds. The birds were smaller than what SCORPION found the previous week.
