Scorpion: Stop Cruelty to Animals in Punti Kayu Mini Zoo! (December 16, 2016)
Posted on 22:27 December 17th, 2016

The Scorpion Wildlife Trade Monitoring Group requested the management of a mini zoo in Punti Kayu Nature Recreation Park in Palembang, South Sumatra, to stop cruelty to animals in this recreation park. The request was submitted to the mini zoo management via email on Friday (16/12/2016) with carbon copy to the Government Wildlife Authority (BKSDA) in South Sumatra.

Scorpion investigator visited the mini zoo on Sunday (11/12/2016) and found some apes placed in dirty enclosures without access to drinking water 24/7. These animals looked thirsty. Some other animals were placed in small and unsuitable cages.

“We hope the zoo management immediately stop all cruelties to animals in this Park,” Deputy Director of Scorpion Wildlife Trade Monitoring Group, Marison Guciano, said.
