Scorpion Insists Wildlife Authority to End Cruelty to Elephants in Yogyakarta (October 31, 2016)
Posted on 17:10 October 31st, 2016

Scorpion Foundation insisted the Wildlife Authority (BKSDA) in Yogyakarta to end cruelty to elephants in Gembira Loka zoo, Yogyakarta. In an email to the head of BKSDA Yogyakarta today (Monday) Scorpion asked the BKSDA to stop cruelty to elephants in the zoo. Here, elephants are chained by three legs causing them unable to move freely inside their enclosure.

Elephant riding, one of the most cruel animal attraction in the world, still exists here in Gembira Loka zoo. Scorpion also requested that this cruel animal attraction is ended.

Another thing that was reported by Scorpion in the email is the supervision of interaction between the animals and the visitors. Scorpion found visitors freely throw in junk food to otters looking very hungry. The food given by the visitors are of human food which were not suitable for the otters.
