Regular patrol in Batang Toru Forest (April 30, 2018)
Posted on 07:46 May 07th, 2018

The Wildlife Authority (BBKSDA) in North Sumatra carried out a regular patrol in Batang Toru Forest to prevent wildlife crimes in the area, especially Tapanuli orangutan.

During the regular patrol on Monday (2018.04.30) the team encountered a man with air rifle walking on the border Batang Toru forest. The patrol team asked why he was carrying an air rifle in the area. The man said, pig tailed macaques and long tailed macaques always steel his crops and he used the air rifle to prevent that.

The BBKSDA warned him not to kill protected wildlife in this forest because it was a violation of law and regulation.

During this patrol, the BBKSDA staff also talked to local community at coffee shops and in their homes to remind them not to kill protected wildlife.
