Four Orangutans in Sumatra Still Suffering, MoEF Deft to NGO Calls (July 28, 2016)
Posted on 15:12 July 28th, 2016

Four orangutans in Kasang Kulim zoo, Riau province in Sumatra, are suffering. Investigators of Scorpion Foundation have visited these orangutans 4 times. In each visits the investigators found these orangutans so sad and suffering.

Supervision of orangutans in this zoo is very weak. Visitors can give whatever they want to the orangutans such soft drink, junk food, etc.

One of the four orangutans , name Boy, was handed over by a military officer in Pekanbaru. It was so obvious that Boy goes to Kasang Kulim zoo instead rescue centre for reintroduction process.

Scorpion Foundation has previously sent 2 letters to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) asking to rescue orangutans from Kasang Kulim but no letter was replied. Today, Scorpion foundation sent again another letter to MoEF insisting to rescue all the orangutans from Kasang Kulim zoo and translocate them to Rescue Centre.
